Unless we also provide complete text/simple version, Forrest failing is not acceptable.
Gump currently falls back to text (albeit rough, e.g. http://gump.dotnot.org/context.html) if forrest is not available. It could be made better, and to do so if forrest fails also. Don't forget, we also have e-mail and RSS output as well.
[BTW: I guess there will be days when forrest, or some dependent, fails to build & we'd want to show outputs.]

Note that forrest has and will continue to change the dtd.
Kinda sells me on thinking that something that generates pages nightly ought be current, and nothing less.
So, is this feasible? Does the forrest build do enough to be run?
Yes. In fact I always use CVS forrest as it's more current and uptodate.
The problem is not the Forrest build but the builds that Forrest depends on to run, like Cocoon, that I'm not so sure of...
