This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. With a slight delay, old vehicles appear
at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de/GURPSnet_files/summary.html

Dragon Republic Type 28 Coastal Patrol Boat v1.0 (TL9)
  Copyright 2006 by Onno Meyer

On many backwater colony worlds, Type 28 Patrol Boats are the Dragon
Republic's first and last line of defense against Union submarines. On
Earth and the more developed worlds, they are simply the most common
patrol craft.
The main armament of the Type 28 Coastal Patrol Boat are two torpedo
tubes. For self-defense, it has a 400-kJ laser in the top turret and a
400-kJ saser in the belly turret. The crew (the captain, the helmsman,
three gunners and the sonar operator) sit in a fully enclosed cockpit,
both to reduce the radar cross section and to save them from wind and
water at nearly 200 kph.
The Type 28 optimized for anti-submarine operations, which leaves it
less capable in a surface warfare role and the traditional coast guard
jobs of search and rescue and customs patrolling. It is usually backed
by the smaller Type 32 Harbor Patrol Boats and by fighter-bombers with
anti-ship missiles.
A full torpedo load is $134,000.

Design Notes
Body is 996 cf with very fine hydrodynamics and good streamlining.
Turret 1 and 2 are 2 cf each. Structure is heavy and cheap, with total
compartmentalization. Armor is expensive composite. Self-sealing.
Computerized controls with duplicate maneuver controls. There are 182.8
cf of access space in the body. Empty weight is 15,000 lbs. The 400-kJ
PD Saser is a screamer.

rule) with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A TL9 submersible shuttle.
