This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. With (growing ...) delay, old vehicles should
appear at http://omeyer.gmxhome.de/GURPSnet_files/summary.html

Archvillain's Yacht (1970s Version) v1.0 (Late TL7)
  Copyright 2006 by Onno Meyer

An Evil Overlord needs a secure headquarters for his or her plans of
world domination. The yacht has decent cabins, advanced communications
and a pair of hidden guns. She is just perfect for a leisurely Martini
with an enemy agent - shaken, not stirred ...
Many schemes in the cold war era involved satellites or missiles, so
the Archvillain's yacht has a small ground control center with a radio
dish, a mainframe computer and four operator consoles. The defensive
systems are more or less standard - two computer-controlled gatlings,
a radar jammer and smoke generators in the stern. The helicopter pad
allows the Archvillain and a few Trusted Lieutenants to survive into
the next episode while the henchmen fight to cover their escape.
At routine travel speed, the main engines burn 210 gallons of diesel
per hour. The generator uses 3.5 gallons per hour. A full load of fuel,
helicopter fuel, ammunition and provisions is $51,000.

Subassemblies: Body +7, Superstructure +6, two full-rotation, pop-up
  Turrets +2, full-rotation Open Mount -1.

Design Notes
Body is 24,000 cf with very fine lines. Superstructure is 6,000 cf.
Turrets are 60 cf each, retract into superstructure. Open Mount is 3
cf. Structure is medium and expensive, with roll stabilizers. Armor
is expensive metal. Waterproofed. Mechanical controls with duplicate
maneuver controls. 2,295.6 cf of empty space in the body and 557.7 cf
of empty space in the superstructure. 2,500 rounds of 20mm SAPHE are
stored in each turret. Empty weight is 300,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from GURPS Vehicles [second edition,
third printing, Dec 2004 errata], VXii (including the armor volume rule)
and the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Game Mechanics Note:
According to the rules, this boat does not plane. A 6:1 length ratio,
very fine lines (whatever that means) and 24 kW per ton should help to
justify a wSpeed of 40 mph (not knots).

Next Week: A getaway helicopter.
