JL, you're right that it's pointless to tell someone how to play. But, Hans has been very clear that his recommendations are firmly grounded in reality. Once someone claims they want a realistic feel, then there most definitely is a right and a wrong way to play. I think the confusion may be that a *realistic* feel is not exactly what was wanted in the first place. If it is, then Hans has made some excellent points that no GM wanting a realistic feel would conceivably ignore.

Hans provides this list with citation supported(!) facts; at no point is his tone bullying or derogatory. Would that we had more like him!
