As you may be aware, SJGames is planning to shut down the Pyramid

SJGames feels that their function has been taken over by the Pyramid
web
forums. I don't.
I'm curious, why a newsgroup?
I know that the Pyramid newsgroup took away a lot of activity from the
mailing list, but I think that was more a case of staff members not
reading both.
I'm not as clear on what you see as an advantage of the newsgroup over
the mailing list. Since you are planning to make it closed, Google and
other search engines would not bring people to it. The search
functions would be limited to the capabilities of NNTP clients and
whatever you might enable via web client.
Please, this is not meant as a complaint. I think it is great that you
are willing to take this task on for something you consider important.
I'm just trying to understand what you see as the advantages to this
approach.
