Gurps Vehicles Spin Gravity

Working from pp VXi6-7, the smallest long term habitat/large vessel with 1.0G spin gravity has a radius of 1,000 feet (333 yards) ('to ensure no one experiences motion sickness', p. 6). (For worst-case scenarios, such a hull could withstand 3.3G [from p. 7]). The hull's Body Volume must occupy at least 295,408,296 cf (p. 7) (590,817dT), and it must have a Light structure or stronger (p. 6).

If it is a vessel, it likely should have the Counter-rotating option so that it can be steered. (p. 7)

The minimum spin components for a vehicle with all the above statistics thus weigh 83.25 tons, take up 8,325 cf (inside the hull), and cost 16.65M$.

for 0.8G, this becomes 800 feet (267yd) radius.
This body thus occupies about half the volume at 151,703,703 cf (303,407dT).

0.6G, 600' (200y) -> 64,000,000 cf -> 128,000dT

0.4G, 400' (133y) -> 18,821,096 cf -> 37,642dT

As a point of reference, standard permanent Housing modules occupy 10,000dT and support only 100 people. (GURPS Traveller 3e TL10, GT:Starports, p. 103)

Thus in the first example, assuming no other type of module (no factory, farm, or shop), could be home to 'only' 5900 people...

Cities in space will have to be much, much, larger.
