This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Large Colonizer Transport v1.0 (TL10)
  Copyright 2010 by Onno Meyer

The Colonizer Transport uses three obvious violations of physics as we
know it, and some less obvious ones, to allow interstellar travel on the
scale necessary to settle new, exciting planets.
The ship has a roughly cylindrical frame, 300m long and 50m wide, but
she is incapable of atmospheric flight. In theory, five shuttle docking
ports allow a turnaround in 24 hours or less, but experienced captains
expect delays when it comes to moving 120,000 colonists. The Transport
has a dock to deploy one of the huge Colonizer Shuttles or to bring it
home for maintenance, but usually she travels light with just the crew,
the passengers, 12,000 tons of luggage, and 500 tons of cargo.
The 80 main decks of the Transport are perpendicular to the axis of
thrust, but artificial gravity allows some sections, notably the dock
and the hyperdrives, to be mounted at a 90° angle. A spine with lifts,
life support, and power and data lines runs the length of the ship. A
typical colonist deck contains 2,000 bunks, a galley, and a few dozen
toilets and showers. The crew quarters are divided into a section for
the engineers and technicians in the stern, a section for the bridge
crew in the bow, and two sections for service crew sandwiched between
the colonist decks.
