This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Megafreighter v1.0 (TL14)
  Copyright 2010 by Onno Meyer

The Megafreighter is an interstellar or perhaps intergalactic craft
for containerized and breakbulk cargo and a few passengers. She has a
spherical 200m hull with reinforced underbelly strakes for landing.
The freighter can carry 1,240,000 tons of cargo and a thousand crew
and passengers. The bridge and quarters are near the dorsal pole, and
the engines and power plants are mounted in ring around the equator,
which leaves the ventral pole for cargo and passenger locks and the
center of the hull for large cargo holds.
Her crew consists of thirty bridge officers, operating in shifts, 120
engineers supervising the maintenance robots, and about a hundred cargo
handlers, pursers and stewards. There are cabins for 150 first class
passengers and 600 second class passengers, unless the permanent crew
manage to secure more of the large cabins for themselves.
She has four docks for 2,000-ton lifeboats, with FTL capability, and
one dock with a few contragrav container carriers, cranes, and smaller
utility flyers to supplement the local cargo handling facilities.

Subassemblies: Body +15.
Powertrain: Ten 200,000-ton vectored super reactionless thrusters; ten
  2,000,000-ton hyperdrives; four 1,000,000-ton contragrav generators;
two 2,500,000-kW fusion reactors; four 75,000,000-kW total conversion
power plants; ten 720,000,000,000-kWs rechargeable power cells.
Occ: 20 bridge RCS, 750 cabins, 250 luxury cabins.
Cargo: 124,000,000 cf.

sAccel: 1 G sMR: 1 FTL Speed: 10 x basic FTL factor.

Design Notes
Body is 150,000,000 cf, with underbelly skids. Structure is
extra-heavy, cheap. Armor is cheap metal. Sealed. Computerized controls
with quadruple maneuver controls. 808,156 cf of empty space. Empty
weight is 1,500,000,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, January 2007 errata], VXi (including the structural volume
rule) and VXii (including the armor volume rule) with the text format
from Vehicles Lite. The GM should probably set a FTL factor well over
0.2, perhaps in the five figures for intergalactic flights.

Next Week: A cruiser with the same size.
