Good points.

What is the motivation for the invasion?

Pandora it might be self defense, as well as to aid a fellow Planet, since humanity in Avatar, have clearly stripped Earth of most of the lifeforms aka GAIA.

Hunger, and you move on after you have invaded, and fed. Strip mining and like all minerals you need and move on..

Needing slaves or hosts for your young? Or just slaves for manual labor.. I know an odd concept in this modern mechanical age, but see WW2 for how slavery can still be done. Add on biotech, cybertech and nanotech and you never know.

Threat, humans are a potential threat and time to slaughter them now when they are weak.

You need a new home and humans are in the way? What else will get replaced? Alien Terra Forming? Would make for a wierd war, as earth plants compete with totally alien ones..

Low Key, need not be directed, but it can be. Immigration, and breeding. Over time the aliens take over the planet, cause they have more numbers and more..

Not sure if a giant ming ship like a whale processor ship that swallows the Earth whole would be called an Invasion. Not likely.

Subversive take over. Much like how some who want minerals, will support an rebel faction and when the rebels take over, the minerals will be sold to the supporting company/government and mined..

How would list of possible invasions(hostile, friendly, and other)
not consist of all possible forms, methods, and reasons for travel?

nomadic tribes following the herds could translate into herds of space
creatures(perhaps harvested for ships), or nomadic miners harvesting
specific trace elements.

Migrating like birds, partially 'friendly' invasions like Europe
colonizing the Americas, wars of conquest like the Huns, wars of
expansion like the Romans, wars if ideology like the Germans in WWII
or Vietnam, explorers like Magellan or Lewis and Clark, people looking
to open new trade routes like Columbus, plants and animals being
carried by ships or birds, some sort of amphibious space creatures
that spend their early life on a planet before they spend their mature
years in space, or the reverse, traveling traders, wandering
musicians, lost settlers, etc.

Any historical or imagined act that involved a person, animal or plant
leaving their 'home town' could be considered an alien invasion, and
most of them can be translated into an interplanetary/interstellar
invasion with just a little thought...

Steve Jackson Games itself did War Against the Chtorr, based on the novels by David Gerrold, about an alien eco-system invasion of Earth.

You have GURPS Interstellar Wars, which deals with the early history of Traveller, as the Terrans run into the First Imperium.

Anyone done a book for Gurps on Invasions?

Alien mostly.

Types and how they invade?

Maybe more than one book but ..

Basic ones I can see:

Indirect/accidental, be it algea or like from another world, that some how
lands on Earth, much like how algae go from port to port and find a new
home, where the ship docs.

Indirect and controlled? A purpose behind it, but its more like sending
seeds out into the galaxy and hope they find a home, or you know there is a
home, but ... generation ships?

Direct, classic alien invasion, some purpose behind it..

Militay invasion is the most common thought of? But not all invasions have
to be military. See Algae above, imagine of the Algae was just part of a
larger organism? Pandora for instance from Avatar?

Invasions can be quick, or slow.. Overt action, or subversive and
infilltration?

What else, just starting the idea, so see how it grows if at all?
