This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Battle Starfighter Mk.V v1.0 (TL12)
  Copyright 2011 by Onno Meyer

The Battle Starfighter Mark V is a space superiority craft. It carries
192 hyperspace torpedoes to saturate the enemy point defense with a huge
salvo, and eight x-ray lasers to defend against isolated attacks.
Most deep space engagements between battle squadrons are inconclusive,
since the inferior force can always escape into hyperspace. Battles for
inhabited planets are characterized by attempts to drive the enemy into
hyper, and to clear a way for strike squadrons or landing craft.
The Mark V is a blunt cylinder. It is strongly compartmentalized, and
weapons and sensors are dispersed along the hull to minimize the effect
of beam hits or proximity explosions. The fighter is unstreamlined, but
contragrav allows planetary landings.
The normal crew consists of a pilot, a copilot, an astrogator, three
gunners, and two engineers. There is room for squadron or wing command
staff if required -- usually the commander, XO, and operations officer
all ride in different starfighters.
It takes 9 minutes to recharge the power cells for one minimum-energy
hyperspace entry, or 44 x-ray laser pulses can be recharged each second.
The full load of torpedoes costs $149,078,400.
