Battle Rider v1.0 (TL10)

  Riders are carried by larger interstellar ships for all those missions 
where the risk is too high for the mothership -- operations close to the 
atmosphere, intercepting unidentified starships, or as sensor picket for 
a squadron.
  The Battle Rider can reach 2 G in space and Mach 6 at sea level in an 
earthlike atmosphere, but she is not designed for landing. Her armament 
consists of a spinal particle accelerator, three missile defense lasers, 
and a missile launcher, usually with ground attack ordnance. 
  The hull is a tapering cylinder with stabilizer fins in the rear. The 
top deck contains the bridge, a small bunkroom, and one of the sublight 
thrusters. The middle deck mounts the weapons, the power plants, and two 
more thrusters. The lower deck holds a shuttle dock and another sublight 
thruster. The orientation of the decks makes it difficult to move around 
under full thrust, but it is useful for docking maneuvers. 
  It takes 25 seconds to recharge one particle beam shot. A full load of 
missiles is $255,000.

Design Notes
  Body is 48,000 cf, with excellent streamlining, lifting body, and 
total compartmentalization. Structure is heavy, advanced. Armor is 
advanced composite. Sealed. Computerized controls with duplicate 
maneuver controls. 4,753.96 cf of empty space. Fifteen 280mm Precision 
Guided Missiles are stored in the body. Empty weight is 570,000 lbs.
