This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Deep Space Transport Mk.IV v1.0 (TL11)
  Copyright 2012 by Onno Meyer

The Deep Space Transports are small interstellar craft, optimized for
work in the outer system, the asteroid belts, or near the Trojan points
of a gas giant. The Mark IV is a cargo craft with a nominal payload of
roughly 60 tons and two crew.
The starship consists of the habitat section, the engine section, and
the connecting spine. The habitat is a 16' sphere with two decks -- the
combined bridge and galley on the upper deck, and two individual cabins
below. The engine section is cylindrical. It contains the power systems,
the hyperdrive, the sublight thrusters, and a maintenance workshop. The
spine is an open frame, where cargo can be stowed within easy reach of
EVA workers. The open spine is both a strength and a weakness of the
Mk.IV. The two sections are separated in case of damage, but routine
work in the rear requires a spacewalk.
It takes 14 hours to recharge the power cell for one hyperspace entry.

Subassemblies: Body +6, Superstructure +5, Pod +5.
Powertrain: Five 10,000-lb. vectored reactionless thrusters; 500-ton

  power cell.
Occ: 2 bridge RCS Superstructure, 2 cabins Superstructure.

Design Notes
Body is 6,000 cf. Superstructure is 2,000 cf. Pod is 2,000 cf.
Structure is light, standard. Body armor is open-frame, standard metal.
Superstructure and Pod armor are standard composite. Superstructure and
Pod are sealed. Computerized controls. 537.6 cf of empty space in the
Superstructure and 895 cf of empty space in the Pod. Empty weight is
80,000 lbs.
The vehicle uses the design rules from Vehicles [second edition, third
printing, July 2010 errata] and VXii (including the armor volume rule)
with the text format from Vehicles Lite.

Next Week: A multirole prospector.
