This is a weekly posting with GURPS vehicles (and the like) to the
GURPSnet mailing list. I grant the permission for all non-commercial
redistribution of my work, but I would like to know if you put it on
a website or the like. The files at omeyer.gmxhome.de are down until
I fix the automatic PDF generation, which should be one of these
days - see sourceforge.net/projects/gurpsml

Steam Yacht v1.0 (TL5)
  Copyright 2013 by Onno Meyer

This could be the yacht of a wealthy industrialist, or perhaps a lord
who believes in steam technology. She can carry twenty passengers for a
day, and up to eight for longer voyages.
The ship is rather wet in a head sea, so there is an enclosed bridge
in the deck house, in addition to a smoking saloon and a study. Davits
at the transom stern hold the steam launch. The cabins are below the
main deck. The coal bunkers and engine rooms are under the water line.
The yacht has four superheated water-tube boilers and two quadruple
expansion engines -- a total of twelve cylinders acting on two screws.
Auxiliary engines power winches, pumps, and ventilation.
At 20 knots, the engines burn 3 tons of coal per hour for a range of
670 nautical miles. At just 9 knots, the coal lasts for 3,600 nautical
miles. A full load of fuel and provisions is $10,000.

Subassemblies: Body +7, Superstructure +5.
Powertrain: Two 995-kW screw propellers; two 1,000-kW quadruple
expansion steam engines; two 2.5-kW triple expansion steam engines.
