This is a repost of my design from a couple of weeks ago, with some changes to 
the color text and the mini-comsuite broken down into its components.. The 
design is unchanged.

Vargr light battlesuit 


The BL-10 Vargr is at the upper end of a light battlesuit and the most recent 
(2044) to enter service with the Republic of Texas. As it uses an air-breathing 
engine, it is not deployed off Earth (such as to the Mars colony). Some have 
also been exported outside of North America. 


Unlike the BL-7 Nemesis, it is not intended for large-scale issue, instead 
deployed as a 32-suit platoon for selected infantry battalions. Its primary 
role is scouting, but is often used as forward observers and infiltration 
teams. It is not used in the assault role, that task falling to the Spartan 
heavy battlesuit. 


Its turbo ceramic has enough fuel for 31 hours of operation and the Vargr can 
run on a rechargable battery for almost one hour (normally employed for 
underwater operations). 


The standard platoon consists of an HQ element (platoon leader, platoon 
sergeant, 2 ATGM gunners w/4 missiles each, one SAM gunner w/2 missiles) and 
three squads. Each nine-man squad includes a squad leader and two four-man fire 
teams (team leader, rifleman, machinegunner and marksman). 


The Vargr has two built in weapons, a 10mm submachinegun for use against 
unarmored or lightly armored opponents ans a dual feed 25mm automatic grenade 
launcher for use against lightly armored vehicles or to provide blackout gas 
cover. The SAM gunner carries two 100mm SAMs in disposable launchers while the 
ATGM gunners each carry four 100mm ATGMs in disposable launchers. The 
machinegunners carry a storm chaingun with three ammo drums (AP ammo) and the 
marksman carries a heavy sniper rifle with nine magazines (AP ammo). All other 
troopers carry a storm rifle (with nine magazines of AP ammo) and two DRL-120 
rockets. All carry a quick-release backpack with 45 lbs of personal gear. 
Weight, but not cost, of carried weapons and gear is included in the stats 
below. All carried weapons are in UT2, except the SAM and ATGM (see below). 


Body ST is 88 and ammo and fuel is $172. Carried weapons are roughly 55 lbs and 
personal gear in a quick-release backpack is 45 lbs.

(fire 9). 


Occ: battlesuit system, 0.25 man-day limited life support system, 1-man NBC kit

Design Notes: 
Surface features include basic chameleon (-3 spotting modifier), sealed, basic 
infrared cloak (-4 spotting modifier), basic stealth (-4 spotting modifier) and 
basic sound baffling (-4 hearing modifier). The frame is heavy and expensive. 
Armor is advanced composite. The legs have an improved suspension.
