Brandon replied to me:

Vehicles Expansion 1 has a gadget called Hypersink, a kind of cloaking
device against many sensors. Have any of you used them in play? What do
they do to game balance?

No, never used it. I'd probably use the stealth hyperdrive I came up with in
the late 90's instead, which fills a similar niche, if I wanted something like
that.

Madness to balance the tactical benefits ...

In the stories cloaking devices always come with some drawbacks. Either the vehicle is unable to maneuver at top speed or fire weapons, or there is some chance to overcome the cloak on a good sensor roll.

The Cloaking Field on VXi21 works like radical stealth and emission cloaking, but it isn't cumulative with it. Stealth force screens on VXii23 work against all sensors, but again with the same sensor penalty of radical stealth/cloaking. Neither has rules against maneuver or weaponry.

The Hypersink on VXi26 provides total immunity to thermograph/PESA/radscanner detection, but none against active sensors or telescopes. That feels like a sub which can only be detected with ASDIC, but not seen by lookouts :-)

Is there something missing in the GURPS bag of tricks?
