Simon, You might be able to find aerial photography and high resolution satelite imagery for your area on http://earthexplorer.usgs.gov. Another great source of free vector and raster map data (at 1:10m, 1:50m, and 1:110m scales) is http://www.naturalearthdata.com/ . Good luck!
