Hi,
for the new version gvSIG 1.10 running on WinXP it's necessary to
install manually the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package.
You can download it from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en
Once installed, gvSIG 1.10 will work fine with raster files.

However with release 1.9 there was no such error.
