Apparently, I have managed to configure the e-mail feature for our forums correctly. This makes the forums a lot more useful, because you can now get e-mail notifications if something changes in a forum or topic post that interests you:
http://forums.gvsigce.org Of course, this requires you to specify a valid e-mail address when registering on the forums. At the bottom of every forums page, you will find a "Subscribe" link. Click on it to get notified of any activity.
