Also you can do the same thing with playing a folder.

Subject: [GW-Booksense] Update to having a file play when the alarm sounds

Hi, I forgot to say that the file you are in has to be the last file you
play before you want the alarm to sound. In other words, if you follow my
instructions below, and then go listen to another file, my instructions
won't work. So, while this is not as good as being able to set a file to
always play when the alarm sounds, it is one way to do it, but it has to be the last file you listen to and close while it is playing or it won't work.

Traci, I have good news for you. You can have an MP3 file play when the
alarm sounds. Here is what I did.

1. set the alarm to a time you want.

2. locate a file you want to have playing when the alarm comes on and start
playing that file.

3. While the file is still playing, hold down the button to turn off the
player. Do not pause the file, it is important that the file be playing as
you turn off the unit.

4. When the alarm sounds, press pound to cancel the alarm. the file
plays. Of course, you are not right at the beginning of the file because you had to play some of it to get this started, but at least, it worked for me.

My silly wish for the sleep timer, is that 45 minutes is included. Lol,
sometimes a half hour is too short and that full hour is too long.

For the alarm, I continue to wish, that we can use mp3 files for an alarm
melody. Not sure how this could be accomplished. Maybe a melody folder,
then that is where we would put our 30-second files, via the computer.

Hello, yes this is being considered.

Many thanks.

Hi Raul,

I'm glad the clock button won't be used, but that there will be a
shortcut to access the sleep timer.
Could you also consider doing a shortcut to find out if the alarm is
set, and what time it is due to ring without having to get into the
reset dialog .
Thanks. Kate.

We have plans on making the sleep timer easier to access, yet not
making it intrusive for those who don't want it. So far from what I
understand, the clock key will not be used.

That's all the information I have at this time.

I'm all for making the sleep timer easier to access. However, I
like the idea of holding down the date/time key to start the timer,
then someone can either work their way through a dialog box or go
into the menus to se the amount of time an so forth. Having one key
access like on the Stream doesn't work since it's easy to
accidentally pres the sleep timer without meaning to. There were
numerous times that this happened to me when using the Stream, and
in order to turn it off, I had to cycle back through the settings
till I got to the one that announced "sleep timer off." Having the
clock key act as the timer start key if held down is genious. This
way, those who want to start the timer can, and those who don't,
need not worry about accidentally turning it on.

Hi,

My suggestion for announcing time remaining is to do the following.
If the sleep timer is active, pressing the date time hot key will
give you the time remaining before the time and date.

There are several issues regarding the sleep timer and I think
some sort of shortcut is one. It would be nice to know how much
time is left sometimes, and it isn't clear to me how one should
reset it if one knows they are running out of time and more is
needed. If you want to reset it to same amount of time, going
into the menu and then pressing the middle key is not enough in
my experience. Going into the menu and changing the time and
changing it back seems to work but feels like one is trying to
fool the device into doing something that should be more
straight-forward.

Hi list I have an idea for the sleep timer shortcut that I would
like to share with you. Hold down the date and time button
anywhere for two seconds and the sleep timer dialog will be
announced. Select the increments with left and right arrow and
press the menu or ok button.
Do you think this is a shortcut that should be added to the
final firmware release? Thanks.
