Sorry for the late response on this. I've experienced the Booksense not holding my place in 90-120 minute MP3 files. There are times when it does start where I left off at and there are times when it doesn't. There are other times when I start the unit or switch from the Daisy mode to the Media mode and it does/doesn't hold my place. In other words, I can confirm the issue of it sometimes holding and sometimes not holding one's place in an MP3 file.
