Hi, Yes, the alarm will sound even if the BookSense is turned off. It will turn on and then you need to hit a button to stop the alarm. If you don't plan to use it, turn it back off. There is only one alarm at a time at this point. I don't expect that to change, but who knows what they might do. It is a fine piece of equipment. Richard _____
