Hi,
Yes, the alarm will sound even if the BookSense is turned off.  It will turn
on and then you need to hit a button to stop the alarm.  If you don't plan
to use it, turn it back off.
There is only one alarm at a time at this point.  I don't expect that to
change, but who knows what they might do.  It is a fine piece of equipment.

Hi, 
Since the time button seems to work whether the BookSense is on or not, I
was wondering if the BookSense     can be in the off position in order for a
set alarm to function.  
 
I would like to be able to set alarms to remind me of appointments, but
don't think I can leave the BookSense turned on indefinitely as the battery
will wear out.
 
Also, can you only set one alarm at a time?
