You know, I think that NLS and BookShare need to get some standards going
with their books. My observation of some of this stuff is that we are coping
with so many standards and foibles that I don't know how in the world Hims
or HumanWare can make any of this stuff work. I have had more experience
with BookShare and have had far more dependability with it than NLS.

Hi Raul,
If this helps, here are the details:
The Jewish war is the one that takes over three minutes to load. It was
recorded in from cassette. It has 47 headings, and is 24 hours, 37
minutes,
10 seconds long.
The Dog Bible was recorded as a digital book originally. It has 195
headings, and is 38 hours, 15 minutes, 19 seconds long.
So The Dog Bible has more markup, but since books that are digitized from
cassette are marked up differently, maybe that's the problem.
If I can give you any more info, please let me know.
Thanks,
Cheryl

Hello Cheryl. NLS books with more markup tend to load slower than NLS
books with fewer markup. For example, a 35 hour book may load much
faster than a 2 hour book if the 2 hour book has more markup, like
magazines tend to do. This has been marked down to get better.
Many thanks.

Hello,
Just wanted to bring this to GW Micro's attention in case my book isn't
the only one affected.
I'm having a problem with the Jewish War, by Josephus. The book reads
correctly, but whenever I want to open it, it takes 3 minutes and 8
seconds to open. I thought it might be because of the large size, as it
is over 24 hours long. However, when I load the Dog Bible, by Tracie
Hotchner, which is over 37 hours long, the book loads immediately. If I
leave the Jewish War paused when I power off the BookSense, it stays
open and will resume reading without delay when I turn the BS back on
and press play. But if I choose to exit, I will experience the same
delay the next time I reload the book.
I have an XT and this book is stored on the internal drive. The Dog
Bible happens to be stored on an SD Card, but I don't see how that would
make a difference.
Thanks,
Cheryl
