Hello. Here is a tip you all may want to keep for the future. I've
posted this publicly since many may find it useful.
Here is a safe way of using the safely remove hardware feature.
1. Close any windows which have files and folders showing your device
which you want to remove.
2. Press windows-b to focus the system tray. If you are using Windows
2000, this will not work since MS added this hot key starting with
Windows XP, in which case you will need to press windows-d, and then
shift-tab to the system tray.
3. Press the letter s until you hear safely remove hardware. If you
don't hear it at all while pressing the S key, then press the S key
until you hear show or hide system tray icons, then press s until you
hear safely remove hardware.
4. Press the space bar once. This is important to do instead of pressing
the enter key as you might be tempted to do. The next step explains why.
5. When you press space on the safely remove hardware icon, it opens up
a context menu list of the devices you have listed as removable. So
arrow down until you get to the right one and press enter when you reach
it. Note that if you are using Windows 7, the item list first shows the
name of the drive, then the next arrow down is to remove it. In Windows
xp, and I think Vista, only the drive letter of the device is shown. In
any case, it's always a good idea to know which drive letter your memory
stick, usb stick, BookSense, or SD card reader has been assigned. If you
goof and press the enter key on the safely remove hardware, a dialog box
will come up and show you a tree view of the items you can remove, but
using this dialog box is not as intuitive and takes longer.
Hope this helps everyone find their safely remove hardware icon.

I have figured out why some Audible books won't be able to play on the
BookSense after having been activated. I was listening to an Audible
book when I decided to transfer an NLS book to the BookSense. I
transferred the book via a card reader. Being the impatient person I can
be at times, I did not use the "safely remove hardware" feature. In XP
it is not supposed to matter that much. By not doing that, the Audible
file I was listening too before transferring the NLS file was corrupted.
The moral of the story? Don't be as impatient as I was. Wheneverr
possible, use "Safely remove hardware" when disconnecting the
BookSense's SD card from a card reader. Either that, or shut down your
PC and then remove it.
The "Safely remove hardware" icon is no longer in my systray. If someone
knows how to get it back, please write me off list and let me know. Thanks.

Turn right, then go straight!
Jeremiah 29:11-14 (Amplified Bible)
11For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord,
thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you
hope in your final outcome.
12Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I
will hear and heed you.
13Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital
necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.(A)
14I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will release you from
captivity and gather you from all the nations and all the places to
which I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back to the
place from which I caused you to be carried away captive.
