Hi all,

I just wanted to say thanks for all of the responses to the charging question.

I do have an adaptor with a USB connector for a cell phone, so I'll be giving it a try.

Absolutely loving my BookSense so far.

You also can buy an adapter for a car cigarette lighter which will produce a standard a/c outlet with 120 volts. you can plug in the booksense charger, which should charge the booksense about 5 times faster than the USB method
(I think that was the number in the manual?).

such a/c inverters can be had for as little as $20. (note: some of them do produce a hum in the connected device, if it's an audio device, because their output a/c isn't a good sine wave; you can either buy a little more
expensive one which promises a sine wave output, or, use it only for
charging and don't try and listen to the booksense with it plugged in).

Sure as long as you can connect the BookSense USB cable to it or if it is a charger with a hard wired USB cable that will connect to the BookSense.

Would a car charger for a gps receiver work then?

Since the BookSense can charge via USB you should be able to buy an
USB adapter to plug in to a car and then connect a USB cable to it
and then to the BookSense and it should charge. I believe others
have done this. We've found that you have to connect it to the
adapter first and then turn it on. If you turn it on first and then
connect the USB adapter it will think you are connecting to a
computer and go in to mobile mode. Also when you are done charging
you should turn it off and then disconnect the USB cable. So make
sure to connect and disconnect the cable while it is off and it will
charge from the car fine. You can get such adapters at

Hi all,

I am picking up my BookSense later this morning, but was wondering
about this.

Has there been any thought given to providing a car charger for the BS? It seems that since many cell phones have this option, that it would
be possible for the BS to do this too.

Any thoughts?
