Did you have your earphones plugged in? You do need those plugged in because
they serve as the antana for the radio feature. Then, I believe you can hold
down the #9 for a couple of seconds to get the radio to play through the
built-in-speaker if you wish.
I get lousy FM reception where I live, but my Book Sense does reasonably
well.
