Hi! Thanks for the tip regarding volume 0. I'll definitely keep that in mind, although I can't conceive of a situation where I'd want/need to turn down the volume with headphones. I've got the 1.1 firmware from august 6. It's one of the first things I checked after I got everything set up on the device just because I was curious. I tried the headphones again with a different, much newer book from audible, and I can definitely use them if I have to, but it just doesn't seem to sound nearly as loud or full-range as the victor did. I have really peculiar and unique hearing issues, it seems; I had replacement eardrums put in when I was in fifth grade. My right ear is more or less normal most of the time, but the left just isn't nearly all it should be. I more often than not will only put an earphone in the left ear, though, just because in most cases when I have to use headphones, I'm needing to keep an ear on what's going on as well. Anyway, since I primarily bought the booksense because sound quality from built-in speaker would be much easier to hear than it was on the victor, I'm still extremely happy with my purchase. Thanks for the replies, and I hope that everyone is having a great day! Missy
