Does GWMICRO have an email list for Windoweyes users, i know they have the scripting, but for people who are less techy?

Subject: Re: [GW-Booksense] Sloppy Daisy Tracking in another NLS
book

Hello Bryan. The odd reporting of the time when you go to a
certain spot
in the book and then listen to it with the 0 key is something
which has
been fixed for the new firmware. I can successfully reach this
part of
the book at 18 hours 45 minutes and 15 seconds and when I press 0
key,
it says the correct time. I put in a mark at this point and can
reach it
no problems as well.

Many thanks.

Raoul,

I appreciate your and Brian's look at the inability to track the
headings on this particular book.

I did locate the heading by jumping around using the time
feature. The
essay "The Awful German Language" begins at 18 hours, 45 minutes
15
seconds. If the NLS didn't mark this up originally of course I
don't
blame the Book Sense for not seeing it.

However, I did notice a little odd quirk when navigating to that
time
mark. Once I cued up the start of the essay and press the pause
button I
got the time of 18:45:15. However after pausing I pressed the 0
key
again to get the time and this time it reported another time
nearly six
minutes earlier, 18:39 and change. The reading, however,
started right
where things were left off, so somehow when pausing and multiply
reviewing the elapsed time output I get this time difference. I
repeated
the task several times and it always reported a different time
the
second time than when I first noted the first time.

Any ideas?

Hello Brian. Thanks for letting me know this. It confirms that
due to
the markup of this particular book, it seems that any DAISY
reader
capable of NLS playback will experience the same thing.

Many thanks.

I'm not the Brian that originally posted but I took a look at
this book
on both the book sense and victor reader stream.
The sections that appear to be skipped are simply not marked up.
The marks appear to correspond to the tone indexing information.
The
headings not marked are within those sections.
For instance, the ascending rifelberg section has within it the
piece on
the german language.
The short answer is, the booksense is tracking the headings that
are
there.

Hello. I've got this book and it's 31 hours long. Short of
listening
through all 31 hours, can you give me some more details as to
where in
the book are the skipped chapters? So when you find one which
the
BookSense is not stopping on, can you press the 0 key to see the
time
you are in so I can test this?

many thanks.

Folks,

I recently downloaded the NLS book "The Complete Humorous
Sketches and
Tales of Mark Twain" and noticed that some chapter headings were
seen by
the Book Sense and others not. I tried navigating by Level 1,
by
heading
and even by paragraph. At first it looked as if I could nicely
skip
between chapters using the heading feature. However, quite a
few
chapters just don't appear there. For example, the Book Sense
doesn't
find the chapter about Twain's Notes on the German Language.
But if
you
read through the text you will find it and if you puddle around
enough
you can find it by time navigation. Somehow the Book Sense is
not
seeing
all the chapter headings the NLS puts in. Will this be fixed
with the
new firmware?
