Perhaps some logic in the software that says: If this is a new file, use the default settings. If the file already exists, use the info from the file header for the recording settings (which the BS must recognize anyway in order to play the file)

The problem with this on the surface is that the BookSense would need to adjust your recording settings. What if one recording you made as mp3, 44.1 hkz and then you change your setings to wav 22050 hz? If you try to append to a recording, what happens then? I'm not saying this will or will not be added, but it will have to be carefully considered. Remember that the recording feature of the BookSense is not meant as an editor, but as a memo recorder. You can already pause your recordings and add marks to them while you record. This is already a neat feature IMO. Many thanks.
