Sounds like you might have shuffle mode turned on. You can toggle this
with a long press of the 9 key, or I believe it can be changed from
within one of the menus by pressing the menu key, though I'm not sure
which menu it would be under. Also, be sure that one track is the item
selected when using the up/down arrows.
