I'm posting on behalf of someone who isn't on this list.
I inadvertentantly opened one of those books which causes the
booksense to beep eternally, so I thought I try things other than a
hard reset and below are the results.
first, after making sure all the buttons had lost there function, I
thought I'd connect the device to the pc. this had no affect on the
bs, but the drives showed up nicely on the pc. the next thing I did
was to see if I could find and access the offending folder, which in
this case, was located on the memory card. sure enough it was there
and I could access it. so, thought I, I'll delete the folder if I
can and the booksense should stop trying to open it, or I should get
an access error on the pc.
surprisingly, I got no error, the folder was deleted and the
booksense has still been trying to open it, since, roughly 15 minutes.
I don't know about anyone else, but I find this behaviour most
peculiar. I would very much like to know what it is doing, given
that it wouldn't open the folder while it was there, and one would
think, can't open a folder which is not. booksense?...
