I am one of those people that use different rates for different applications.
If I am racing through something as info only, then that is at a very fast
rate. I don't care about individual words, I listen to patterns and just want
to get the general meaning. If it is for leisure reading, then I like a natural
pace. This is when I am puttering around the house, yard, or garage. Or it
might be when I am sitting around with a bucket of ice to keep a couple bottles
of beer cold or with a tumbler of Scotch in my hand.

If it is something that is more technical that I need to absorb again I will
slow it down. This is because I need the specific details should I be checking
syntax, following the steps to resolve software issues, repair some hardware,
etc.

Thankfully I only need to worry about one shoe size.
