That's strange. Mine charges in just a couple hours and it speaks when the battery is full. I think your unit, or your battery, has a bug. --le

I typically charge it once every day or every other day, sometimes twice in one day, depending on how much I use it. I've never seen this behavior before. I charged my booksense early this morning and it charged just fine. I used it on battery power to do some line-in recordings today and decided to go ahead and charge it again so I would have a full battery with which to do some recordings this evening. The battery was at level 8 when I plugged it in, the booksense indicated that the battery was charging and that it was using AC power. but after 5 hours, it never completed the charge. Between the 3 and 5 hour time frame, I performed 2 resets in which I removed the battery for 30 seconds, I ensured that the plug was securely connected both to the outlet and the booksense, made sure the switch on the adapter was in the position closest to the prongs, and tried another outlet. None of these measures seemed to allow the booksense to charge, it still says that it's charging, it recognizes when I connect or disconnect the adapter, and the battery level is reported at level 7 or 8. I'm providing all of this information in the hopes that someone else may have seen this behavior from a booksense, or may be able to offer a suggestion that I haven't tried. For now, I'm going to use my booksense as I normally would, and see what happens. I really hope this issue resolves itself because I use my booksense every day and don't want to be without it.
