This is the second time in two weeks that I have had this experience with my booksense. I plugged the booksense in to charge, and although it recognized when the adapter was connected or disconnected, and it said that the battery was charging, it didn't actually charge. I checked the connections on the booksense and the wall outlet, removed the battery, and tried another outlet all without success. When I initially posted this question to the list, someone suggested that I run the battery all the way down before charging, which I did. That didn't fix it. I called GWMicro tech support and was advised to perform a #4 reset, which I was told is a bigger reset than removing the battery. Performing this type of reset is extremely difficult with my cerebral palsy, but I managed it. That didn't allow the booksense to charge. As I was listening to audio with the booksense plugged in, at some point, it froze completely. I carried it to another outlet, thinking that I might need to perform another #4 reset. When I plugged it in, it spontaneously reset to factory defaults, and began charging. It completed its charge and resumed normal operation. After this happened 2 weeks ago, I began to run the battery all the way down between charges, and it has worked well until today. Today I experienced the exact same behavior that I outlined above. battery low, wouldn't charge, unsuccessful #4 reset, spontaneous freeze and reset, then a normal charge. Up until 2 weeks ago, this had never happened before. I observed today that when the booksense froze, it had been exactly 2 hours since I had initially plugged it in to try to charge it. Has anyone else seen this happen with a booksense? What might cause it? Is there any way to prevent this from happening again? I use my booksense every day and need it to function reliably. And since I have full use of only one hand, I'm not sure I can perform regular #4 resets. Any information or advice you can provide is greatly appreciated!
