Rich,
I have had my BookSense XT for the same length of time. I haven't heard anyone
say that no improvements have occurred since its release. What I and others
are saying is that particular features have been requested for over a year that
have not yet been implemented. What's more, we, the users, don't know if they
will be, or can be implemented. For example, can the sensitivity of the
internal microphone be further reduced to avoid distortion through firmware
changes, or is the microphone circuit just poorly designed? Can the
pronunciation problems with the Neospeech voices be fixed by HIMS, by Neospeech
or not at all? With the BookSense hardware, is it even possible to have
separate volume settings for TTS and audio? If features can't be implemented
because of the hardware limitations of the BookSense, it would be good to know,
since we could then quit looking forward to seeing them in the next firmware
update.

Communication is virtually one way. GW Micro says they are listening, and I
believe them, but HIMS, the manufacturer of the hardware, says nothing. What
HIMS can do, and what they will do to further improve the BookSense is
somewhere out there in the Twilight Zone, and I don't see any signpost up
ahead. If anyone admits to getting the reference at the end of the last
sentence, they're telling their age!

  Subject: [GW-Booksense] Features

I have had a Booksense since early July, 2009. And I must agree with Raul
here. The feature set has vastly improved since the product was first
released. I would like to see the ability to directly input radio frequencies,
and I would definitely like to see the ability to set independent volume for
TTS and audio, but to say that no improvements have occurred since this product
was released is simply untrue.
