Erik: I agree with you.
I will always encourage GW to improve Window-Eyes's responsiveness,
but not at the expense of stability.
I always interpret stability as being: accuracy of focus, protection
against Windows operating systems' protection faults and of course,
my oerall prodeuctibvity.
I gave up on Jaws years ago, so I really do not know how it performs
as a comparison: when I try to be objective I notice that often,
Window-Eyes develps new features at a slower rate than is so for
Jaws, but when the work is done - the new features are often at a
more advanced state, and even though bug fixes AR emade subsequently,
they tend to reflect Window-Eyes refinements rather than major
steps. As such: v7.0 is a very significant development.
This beta is looking pretty good for me: and again - if matters of
sluggishness can be addressed, without loss of overall stability, I
will be an even happier camper and - I don't compare anymore. I have
made my screen reader choice.
Vaughan.

I disagree on this. Tested over a wide range of systems here
including turions, pentiums, and macs running window-eyes and dek
access32, window-eyes is much more responsive than jaws overall.

Hi,
I noticed this also. Jaws is much more responsive to key-presses
than window-eyes is.
I hope this gets fixed real soon.

Yes I have also noticed this. I have also noticed Window-eyes
lags very baddly in Notepad since 6.1

Hello,
Just as a testimonial, I've installed Window-Eyes 6.1 demo, then
WE 7.0 beta. I've observed
that Window-Eyes generally responds slowly at key press when
compared to
other screen readers, whether arrowing through menus, pressing
right
arrow to advance a sentence while reading to end, arrowing in
notepad,
etc.
I can notice several miliseconds between a key press and the
speech
sounding. It doesn't seem to be related to the Eloquence
synthesiser
only, as I tried using SAPI 5 too. I'm using the Window-Eyes
eloquence
version, not the Sapi one, but it doesn't respond
instantaneously at
all.
My system is a Pentium D dual core machine, 1 gb ram, Windows XP
professional 2.
Cheers,
Cleverson
