I disabled the book mark tool bar and, after another helpful suggestion,
I took out the navigation tool bar as well. The problem was still
happening for some reason until I closed and restarted Firefox, when it
stopped happening. I didn't find anything about autocomplete in
Firefox's options dialogue, so I'm glad it now seems to be fixed.
