I can't seem to use the chat in the basic view.
How did you click the links in the standard view and what browser are you using
and what version of the browser? I use IE 7.

Coincidentally, I started using Gmail two days ago. They do have an
alternative to the graphical characters when you register - you can listen to
numbers being spoken. However, despite having quite reasonable ears, I
couldn't decipher them after three attempts and had someone read the graphical
characters. The audio option is, then, little more than tokenism on Google's
part.

Apart from getting started, though, yes it's pretty good. You can use the
standard view with Wineyes and I was able to activate links to messages.
However, I can see no reason not to use the basic view. It's much cleaner and,
so far as I can tell, you don't miss out on any features.

  Hi all.

I just opened a GMail account today. I had to get sighted help with the
verification picture but after that it works pretty well. I use the basic html
view to read my messages. Does anybody know if the standard view is workable
with Window-Eyes? I can't seem to click things that I think should be clickable
like the subject of a message to open that message. I can click them in the
basic view but not in the standard one.

Also, any idea if Google Talk can be made to read a little better? I have
tried the one on the webpage and am going to test the stand-alone one tomorrow
when somebody comes online.

  Thanks.

  Sara
