Well that's something I hadn't bothered doing, setting user Windows to
read various parts of the screen but certainly, I'll do that in a few
minutes, i just used to use the mounse pointer, wouldn't the Windows bee
useless depending on what view you used in Total Recorder?
That other product sounds remarkably useful actually as I have a severe
hearing impairment, i take it that its as accessible as is Total Recorder?
Haven't played much with the latest Beta of Audacity though I note that
Beta 3 has come quite some way in terms of accessibility for both PC and
Mac.

Thanks Dane. I've been using Total Recorder for a while and agree
with your comments. I've set up user windows to allow quick reading
of the current position and total length, but nothing else.
High Criteria, who make Total Recorder, also make a similar but
different product called Dictation Buddy. One of its features is
being able to adjust speed while retaining pitch. Another is
automatic stop and start during recording.
I have downloaded a demo of Goldwave, but haven't installed yet. The
latest beta of Audacity is interesting. Does anyone know how to
either join tracks or stop and start a recording without starting a
new track?

*Subject:* Accessible Audio Editors, good value for money
Hi everyone!
I'm probably just confirming what most list members know here. I
purchased the Goldwave Audio Editor/recorder for $45.00 and I have to
say that if anything ought to be put into my "value for money" basket
then this application goes straight to the top.
The product (thus far at any rate) was accessible right after
installation, no scripts required, no need to write set files and very
little tweaking thus far.
For those of you who already use Goldwave, you'll already know that
the developers have gone out of their way to make Goldwave interact
and accessible with Screen reading software, that's what the manual
says anyway and I've no argument with that thus far.
All commands are intuitive and well thought out.
I've heard some people say that Goldwave isn't a "professional sound
editor"? Well its like everything else, if you sit down and learn the
software then there's no reason whatever why you won't be able to do
what the so called "professional sound editors" do with audio and
actually, you'll probably be able to accomplish your editing tasks
much quicker because Goldwave seems to be totally accessible and with
a well thought out manual to boot.
The next great "value for money" piece of audio software I'd like to
comment on is Total Recorder, I may have mentioned this before.
Version 7.0 is now out and (whilst there are many
advancements) accessibility is still good, a few tweaks may need to be
made but they're few and far between and they're mainly to do with the
labelling of buttons, graphics and check boxes. Total Recorder v7 is
$40.00
