Thanks a lot it worked. The steps I did were that I printed it to Office Imaging to TIF format and then opened in Microsoft Document Imaging which can do an OCR and send data to Word.

This pdfr document has been scanned as an image plus the copyright header and footer. So any sightling viewing would have no problem reading the text as say for a fax. However we have to find another way of overcoming this problem What I have found is that if the document is printed out to the Microsoft Image Writer which comes with Office2003 you will then be able to export the created .mdi file to Microsoft word. T%ry this. It works. Took me most of last year at my university to convince staff that there was in fact a problem and the rest of the year to find a way of overcoming it. The situation is that the documents are scanned in this way purely in the interests of speed.
