Hi, this is an attempt to help Jim with a few things to try to get
window-eyes on his main drive, to speaking again. I don't know if Jim has
done this, however, since window-eyes has a great feature called back up
synthosizer, I believe everyone should set up a back up synthosizer to try
to help in situations in such has Jim's experiencing. Jim didn't state in
his message if he checked to see if his sound card had gotten muted and he
didn't even say if he had a hardware synthosizer. This would be valuable
information to know in trying to help him. Having said that, I have a couple
things for him to check/try. The first thing to try doesn't happen cvery
often, however, over the years I've seen this happen from time to time and I
don't know why. But sometimes your sound card will get muted, and if you're
using a software synthosizer you won't hear anything. So if you're hearing
some sort of windows sound etc, of course your sound card isn't muted. So
the second thing we need to check, is the window-eyes synthosizer you are
using. Make sure the one you like to use is the one you've selected. Then
for software synthosizer users, if you have more then one sound card, check
to see if the one you want window-eyes to use is selected. Then of course
tab to okay and hopefully you'll have speach. In the mean time for
everyone, using software speech that would like to be sure the sound card
you're using with window-eyes isn't muted, you can use a little utility
program called
quick mix
This is the home page to quickmix
http://www.ptpart.co.uk/quickmix/

In addition to having the ability to choose a back up synthosizer, I would
hope that window-eyes will add a feature to check if your sound card has
gotten muted and just unmute it, or just a hot key to do this. I really
don't like to have to rely on another scrreen reader to see what's going on
with window-eyes and your system. If you would like to have another screen
reader to rely on from time to time I recomend the free one called
non visual desktop
In fact Jim may not have another screen reader installed so he could do what
I've done before which is to open window-eyes window, to do that command it
would be control plus backslash. After you believe you have the window-eyes
window focused, go alt plus f, then press y for synthosizer, then that will
open the list of synthosizers. If you're not sure, if you don't have speech
where you are in the list of synthosizers, just to be sure press home about
2 or 3 times, then hit d, the first thing you'll land on is dec accesss for
window-eyes. If you only have one sound card just hit enter. If you have
more than one sound card, however, you'll have to tab and select the right
sound card you want to use. Then you can tab to okay and you should have
speech. Hope this helps and good luck. Note: as to why the emergency removal
of window-eyes is not working for you I don't know. This something hopefully
gw-micro or someone else can address.

Subject: WE and my main drive

Hi there GROUP!

Have two HDs, the main drive a 160 GB and ghe secondary HD a 40 GB. At the
present I am running the 40 GB. They are both sset up with WE, the 160 has
6.1 and the 40 has the 7 beta. Pproblem, when I boot up using the 160 GB I
get no WE at all. I have tested to see if the speech is present by
pressing the alt tab and then removing WE then attemptting to restart WE the
WE hot-key - 'ctrl+shift+w'. I receive the msg, Window eyes is already
running. I have had someone with sight verify this for me. Any ideas on
what might be going on with the 160 GB HD? BTW, it was working up till
around a few weeks ago..? I have tried running the emergency uninstall on
the this drive but to no avail..? Any suggestions / ideas on what I might
try to get the primary drive to work..? I am open to any suggestions..!

THANKS VERY MUCH! & 73 de
