Hi. Also to add to this. Version 6.1 of Window-Eyes was not just a Vista-ready release. There were many improvements and fixes between 5.5, 6.0, and the free 6.1 to all 6.0 users.

We always recommend everyone stay current because when it's time to upgrade, your upgrade cost will be more if you have skipped more than one version.

many thanks.

Howard,

You said you have 6.1 right? That is the most current version, so if that
is the version you do have then all you have to do is purchase a replacement
CD. I believe GW Micro is still selling those for $20.00. The version that
is in beta now is 7.0 and if you are at 6.1 which I am assuming, again
because of what you said in your message you can upgrade for $175.00. GW
Micro is taking orders for 7.0 now, and in fact I put my order in the day
that 7.0 beta 1 came out. Of course, you won't get a cd of 7.0 though until
it is final, but still thought I would mention it.

Hope this makes sense.

Subject: versions not bought

Good evening,
I believe I passed purchasing a version update because I felt it mainly was designed to work with Vista--I still have XP home edition--and I felt or thought that the new version would not work as well as the one I now have.
I took my 6.1 disc to a friend's and we were studying the system together.
Unfortunately someone put a hot iron on the disc; it was placed in the wrong place apparently. I realize, if I wanted to replace the damaged disc, it would cost me some money. My system is starting to show major problems and I am considering buying a new system. I further understand that any or most new systems come automatically with vista. So, after going the barn, how many versions do I have to buy to catch up to the one the folks are now using? Thanks. Any info would be appreciated.
