Hello Dane,

Please tell us where we may learn more about Rollback. Sounds intriguing.

Subject: Windows System Restore? We can do better with another accessible alternative.

Hi everyone!

I notice that windows System Restore has been mentioned on this list. Its up to each and every user as to what they put on their machine but it seems foolish to me to have a utility such as System Restore that only does "half a job" when "if a job's worth doing then its worth doing well", <smile> in other words if your system breaks then why have software (which isn't too accessible (or wasn't too accessible last time I looked at it)) which only does half a restoration job, in other words System Restore only restores what it thinks worth restoring.

The other point to all this is that you need to get Windows up and running in the first place and if you can't? Well Windows Restore is of no use to you whatever <smile>.

I've been using Rollback here for about 3 years now and it has a number of advantages over System restore, the main and obvious being that you can use it to "rollback" your system before Windows boots, it has full keyboard command and you can get it up and running by pressing the "home" key after you hear the beep on your computer when you start it but I won't go into all the details here, if anyone wants them then email me privately.

Secondly, you choose what to save or set up criteria for Rollback to automatically "take snapshots" of your system, unlike Goback or anything else this software doesn't sacrefice a little of your computers performance.

And most importantly, all functions of Rollback can be accessed, from the simple "Take/restore Snapshot' in the "system tray" to a whole host of options in the Rollback software itself.
