Dennis,

Beginning with Window-Eyes 7.0, we will no longer be providing an audio recording of the manual. At least not an audio recording by one of us. We will, however, be providing a DAISY version of the manual, both text only, and audio. The voice used to record the audio version of the DAISY manual is Microsoft Anna, the same voice that ships with Windows Vista. We contemplated using a more realistic voice, but, honestly, the license cost for these other voices is substantial, and would most likely increase the cost of Window-Eyes. It just isn't worth it in our opinion. If resources become more abundant in the future, we may switch to a DAISY version using human speech, but for now we're going with Miss Anna. I've had several users test this version of the DAISY manual privately, and there is a consensus that the speech is acceptable. It's not amazing, but it works. Because the audio version of the DAISY manual uses MP3 files, we will also provide a playlist that will allow access to the audio files only for those people without some sort of DAISY player.

So to answer your question directly, there will be an MP3 version of the manual, but not recorded by a human. All together, there will be six versions of the Window-Eyes manual available: CHM (Windows Help), Text (both individual sections and a single file), DAISY (both text-only and audio), and HTML (web based).

We feel this combination of file formats will provide something for everyone.

One final note: the Window-Eyes Scripting Manual will remain in CHM only. It is a reference for scripters, and doesn't make much sense to exist in many other formats.

I hope that answers your question.
