You say: said before if an error is not generated then there is no way to debug the problem.
that is not true at all. I am involved in many programming projects. I mentioned gw giving us step by step instructions on how to provide them the info they need to hopefully find the cause.. Did you read my example of losing speech and getting no error report? Also many times if you get a report of the state of the system even with out actual errors you can solve problems. You say: As mike has stated in another list an advanced error generation utility is in the works but will not make it in to 7.0. I understand this and that's good. But, I think it should be 7.0 for this ... my main thread mentioned that we need priorities and the loss of speech is a huge problem. Do you agree that it's our biggest issue in this beta? That also means that even GW agree's that more reporting / getting info from the state of the system is the answer. I just think we need to reorder priorities and make the loss of speech at the top of the list. I had an example of loss of speech with nothing I could provide GW with to help them solve the problem. This is what I am trying to work on. You went off and pointed me to scripts witch actually may even be the cause of the problem. I don't need help getting the script but, did ask for ideas to get more info to GW. Can you provide help there? that is what I asked others to do in the first place. I say: When will gw make it easier to do. I mean recover gracefully from the loss of speech with no errors. With out sighted help this is truly hard to recover from. Why would a batch file send information to gw? That is what the error reporting system is for. If an error happens after you restart window-eyes it will offer to send a error report to gw micro with the nature and cause of the error. So we already have in place an error reporting feature. When will gw make it easier to do. If you are meaning get packages this is already pretty simple. All packages are available from the gw micro script central page at http://www.gwmicro.com/sc also there is an install packages script that you can get from there that is a lot like click and run or windows update in vista. So you don't even have to go to the site you can get all your packages threw this script once it is installed. I would once again like to ask gw micro to include this script as one of the default scripts. This is going to be something everyone is going to want. I still can't even get this script you talk about with out going to some third party sight that we may not even endorce. Well not sure what site you speak of above but if you are getting this from http://gwmicro.com/sc then it is indorsed by gw micro. The less tech savvy of us can't even get this done. As far as the less tech savvy among us I don't know how much easier then install packages it can really get. If you would be willing to describe the nature of your problem getting the script I would be happy to assist you in whatever way I can. Even if I recover better (this is good) how does that help we fix things? My main idea was to help gw get more info to make speech more stable. Now we are spending time not even dealing with that and I dont' have time for it. No more from me on this. Well a utility that kills window-eyes is not and cannot do as you describe. As I said before if an error is not generated then there is no way to debug the problem. Note this is not only true of window-eyes but all programs. As mike has stated in another list an advanced error generation utility is in the works but will not make it in to 7.0. It is not my intention to antagonize here. I am simply attempting to assist you in getting the utilities you need to get the job done as the situation stands now. I do hope this helps.
