Jim Loss of speech has always, regardless of version, been an issue with my pcs. It, however, seems more prevalent, and sometimes to the point of being annoying, with 7.0. I, more often than not, have decided to keep scripting off which seems to keep speech issues managable. I suspect what may be happening, and it could be as much a synthesizer issue as that of WE, is that too many things are keeping memory busy and that we (or speech) simply gets lost in the mix. Note that other functions continue to function normally so it probably has nothing to do with the pc freezing. I have seen this on a pc running xp home with as much as 2gb of ram the synthesizers being TripleTalk internal and usb. Try initially dealing with this by turning off scripting. That may keep things running more smoothly for you.
