i have spent the last few hours trying to find the driver for my ATI
Radeon card. it is 4 years old, and apparently out of date. i kept
getting steered towards a program called "Driver Detective" I
installed it, but it does not seem to work well with speech. Does
anyone have tips on using this program?

update or control panel, things don't go as well. I too have a Dell
on one of my machines and have just gone to Nvidia's web site
directly because that is what I have. If you have Nvidia, ATI, or
Intel as your graphic adapter, I suggest you go directly to one of
their sites and get the latest and greatest and then perform the
install. As annoying as that sounds, believe me, in the long run it
will work better.
