I get this exact problem under xp. I uninstalled and went back to the previous live messenger.
Running the final 7.0 wineyes.

Subject: Windows Live Messenger 2009 Beta and Window-Eyes 7.0

Hello everyone,

I want to congratulate GW Micro on the very near release of Window-Eyes 7.0.
It is amazing how far it has come since 6.1 and I'm enjoying the new
features. Just a few things that I hope have been addressed in the final
7.0 release. I was wondering if there will be support for Windows Live
Messenger 2009 Beta which of course was made publically available today.
Under Windows Vista, I can pretty reliably produce a crash when I try to
sign into Windows Live Messenger. When the crash happens it apparently
happens in Windows Live Comunications Platform because I get the message
Windows Live Comunications Platform has stopped working, and I get the usual options to send the error report to Microsoft which I always do. Note this
crash has never happened to me without WE running.

Second, I am having trouble getting the Windows Live Messenger Contact list
to read when using the arrow keys to move through it. I suspect a script
could fix that issue, but still a script was not needed in prior versions.
I've only been running it for a few minutes but those are some problems I'm
noticing so far. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 all updates and
Window-Eyes 7.0 Beta 3. Again, thanks so much for a great upgrade.
