Have you turned the reading pane off under the view menu?

Hello all,
It was suggested by one list member to save the set file after turning
browse mode off. Unfortunately this does not work because it doesn't hold
when I go to another folder.
Does the fact that I use Ctrl-Y to go to a folder make a difference here?
It shouldn't in my opinion but who knows.
Thanks for any assistance on what could be causing the problem and what can
be done to permanetly fix it if that's possible.
