Try pressing the space bar to either check or uncheck a check box, then
shift tab off of the check box and tab back on .  The true status of the
check box should now be reported.

I think they do change, but Window-Eyes is not correctly reporting their
state.

Wow, I think I'm just going to give up and go watch the baseball 
game!  the check boxes that say enable spoken menus for accessibility 
and enable disc usage, and manually manage music and vidios and 
whatever other ones are in that area of the program will not change 
from being unchecked to checked, or at least, we won't tell me if 
they change.  I press enter, I left and right click on them, I press 
the spacebar,  and they still only say, unchecked!  If this is 
accessibility, I'd hate to see inaccessibility, (lol)!!!
