Looks like you have to do this for each new document??? Sara ----- Original Message ----- From: Jeremy Curry To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 3:49 PM Subject: RE: Spacing in Word 2007
That may be true, but Word 2007 does an interesting thing. Word 2007 puts in a blank line that is not actually a line, which gives the appearance of double-spacing. It's put in after each paragraph. It's there, but you cannot even arrow to it because it cannot gain focus. It is put after each press of the Enter key to make a new paragraph. To find out if this is turned on in Word 2007, press Alt-H to access the Home tab, and then press k. A menu will open. Then press the Up Arrow to get to "Remove space after paragraph" and then press Enter. Word 2007 will no longer put a space after each paragraph. This will put you back in normal spacing where single and double spacing will actually work correctly as Chip already noted. If it's when you printed it, then the Word document really is set for double line spacing. The easiest way to change that is to select all the text, and press control-1, which will apply direct paragraph formatting of single spacing to all paragraphs in the document. Control-2 makes it double-spaced if all the document is selected, and I'm guessing that's how you got it this way to begin with. If you've defined your own styles however, you could have modified some style to be double-spaced by default, and you'll need to go back in to the style editor to fix that. hth, Chip ------------------------------ Chip Orange Database Administrator Florida Public Service Commission [EMAIL PROTECTED] (850) 413-6314 (Any opinions expressed are solely those of the author and do not necessarily reflect those of the Florida Public Service Commission.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Patricia Krinke [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, October 09, 2008 11:06 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Spacing in Word 2007 Good morning, I just typed a letter in single space, the screen reader says it is single spaced, but visually it is doubled.
